The dreams you dream in the midst of the heat of a summer night,
If not sought out will fade away like a poet's unspoken words,
The love that kindled with winged hope will shine bright,
For better or for worst,
And with heart in hand, and hands held high,
I'll drink to you, I'll drink to us,
I remember you were deep,
In the middle of the city streets,
Whilst everything was burning up
And the sky came falling down on our shoulders,
And the papers wrote about us,
And the singers sang of us,
And the poets told the tale,
Of how the gallons of our sweat,
And the flagons of our blood were lost under the finger nails,
Of those who lerked and crawled,
To make their way over the wall,
But we heard the call
And we stood tall
Singing long ago forgotten hymns of bravery and soul,
And we made them all,
Yeah we made them all fall,
Statues built to weather the passing of time,
Are beared by the unknown,
The anthems and cries of freedom that were sung long ago,
Are frail pebbles that can start up an avalanche,
And soffocate the hands that strangle,
And say no more
We can be heroes,
Maybe we'll be forgotten by tomorrow,
And discarted like yesterday's news,
But we can make our stand today.
Whilst our necks are still scaping the noose,
