What to do and who to be,
Maybe I don't wanna be anyone,
Where to go, here and there,
Maybe I don't wanna be anywhere,
Wanna drug me with stupid television,
Throw me a book, and tell me it's salvation,
Well I'm sorry I don't do superstition,
Throw me a bone and fix my situation.
Keep your glorified social status,
Don't you know that blows away like dust,
In politics and country we trust,
When it's in ourselves we must,
'Coz when a dollar sign comes their way,
They won't think twice to throw us under the bus.
All the world's telling me what I should feel,
Scared, down, frustrated that's their deal,
Maybe I just wanna feel something that's real,
Rich or poor, they say you've gotta fight,
And the burning flame of patriotism iside ignite,
Why aren't their sons the ones sent off far away to die,
Out of that omnipresent feeling in their hearts, fright.
Keep your badges and your honor,
And bring our soul brothers back to life,
Or at least go and tell their fathers and mothers,
They died over nothing, just a lie,
Put our shattered souls back together,
Make me whole, so I can be myself again,
Whoever that was, I can't remember,
You were busy breaking me, now get busy mending.
How foolish of me, I forgot,
To you I'm just a number on a paper sheet,
You've taken everything I've got,
My heart, my soul, my hands and feet.
Keep your glorified social status,
Don't you know that blows away like dust,
In politics and country we trust,
When it's in ourselves we must,
'Coz when a dollar sign comes their way,
